Sony introduces a major FX6 firmware update, unlocking new possibilities for filmmakers
Sony launched a significant firmware update for the Sony FX6 with the release of firmware V6.0. This upgrade introduces some highly requested features specifically for professional filmmakers. With this release, Sony continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting its professional user base. Even after being on the market for six years, the FX6 remains relevant, proving that reliability and innovation can go hand in hand.
Firmware V6.0 delivers an extensive set of improvements, including increased workflow efficiency, expanded creative control, and refined performance in demanding production environments.

New key features:
- Adds a home screen (BIG6) where you can easily review the shooting settings and equipment configurations when shooting movies
- Improves the image quality when using a User 3D LUT file
- Improves autofocus performance when the system frequency is 29.97, 25, 24, or 23.98
- Adds support for external recording of Blackmagic RAW when using RAW video output via HDMI
- Adds support for the following Monitor & Control functions:
- Frame rate settings for S&Q Motion
- Setting attributes and deleting of 3D LUT files
- Low-resolution mode for network monitoring
- Allows you to add the following functions to the Assignable Buttons tab:
- Crop Select
- LUT On/Off
- AE Level/Mode
Notes:
- Cameras with the system software version 5.02 or earlier
- After updating, the system software version will be version 6.00
- When upgrading from version 5.02 or earlier to version 6.00, your previous settings will not be carried over, and the camera will reset to the default settings.
- If users want to carry over your previous settings, they need to save their settings in an All File before upgrading and then load the saved All File after the upgrade is complete.
